Generations getting together
New research suggests that relations between old and young in Britain are very good and that people also get on with their neighbours, contrary to stereotypes.
The research, carried out for the Full of Life campaign, found that 86 per cent of Britons say they socialise with people outside their own age group, with more than half saying they do it often.
Also, two thirds of people agree that they have things in common with people of other generations and only five per cent of people are not on first name terms with their neighbours.
Gordon Lishman, Director General of Age Concern, said: “Negative, ageist stereotypes often disappear when different generations come together and learn to understand and appreciate each other.”
